Class 2 (or Type 2) is a common type of sound level meter that conforms to the requirements and accuracy of the international IEC 61672-1 standard for SPL (sound pressure level) meters.

Manufactured by Pulsar Instruments PLC from the United Kingdom, experts of Noise at Work since 1969, the Model 16 is tested prior to sale and meets the accuracy demands of the trade user and is ideal for users wanting to measure sound levels in a commercial, industrial or residential location, in a factory, school, public facility or on a construction site.

The Model 16 has an easy to read backlit LCD display, which shows the sound level (SPL) in decibels (dBA). The operator can select either the standard A-frequency-weighting or the alternative C-frequency-weighting. Additional features include LAMax and LAMin hold for the measurement duration, LCpeak for occupational hearing measurement and a limit alarm, which you can configure to indicate if your set threshold has been exceeded.

Measurement Kit
Correct compliant use of a sound level meter requires field calibration testing before and after your measurement. The Model 16 has an in-built calibration test function, so the operator can confirm the meter is within calibration for use.
The Measurement Kit includes the Class 2 approved acoustic calibrator, enabling the calibration to be performed by the operator.
The hard transport case is also standard with the Measurement Kit.
